Everything Yummy at The Red Beanbag

The Red Beanbag could very well be my new favourite place to eat at whenever I am in Publika. On three separate visits, I have been wow-ed, impressed and mouth-orgasmed to their yummy dishes, coffee and desserts. You can read about my first trip here.

My second visit was supposed to be for lunch with a friend but because we arrived before 12noon, we could only order from the Breakfast Menu (10am - 3pm) as the Lunch Menu starts from 12pm onwards. As we were starving, we went ahead and ordered even though it was only 20 minutes to noon.

Friend ordered the Specialty Baked Eggs (RM17.90) that comes with three slices of crusty bread. The eggs are baked and served in a baking dish along with a combination of lamb, beef and chicken bratwurst sausages, sundried tomatoes, potatoes and cheese. The dish was oozing with tomatoes and cheese that can be scooped up with the bread. Every helping we had of it had at least a piece of meat that was juicy although albeit salty. My friend was super pleased RBB had French unsalted butter upon request for the bread. There is a 15-20 minutes waiting time for this dish so it's not advisable to have this if you're starving. God knows why my friend ordered this....

My RBB's Egg Benedict (RM15.90) was top-notch! The poached eggs were topped with plenty of hollandaise sauce and cooked to perfection. There was the right amount of spinach and mushroom to go with the eggs and beef bacon that comes on two pieces of French-toasted bread. I had trouble finishing it but because it was so good and did not want to waste it (After all, waste not good food!), I finished it all, mopping up the extra hollandaise sauce with my friend's bread.

On a separate visit, I had the My Crustacean Cousin - tiger prawns and mixed seafood served with freshly pressed Tagliolini pasta (RM28.90). The sauce was tomato-based but wasn't overwhelming as there was just enough to give the chewy pasta flavour. It comes with two fresh and crunchy prawns, a chunky scallop and a few clams. While I was quite happy with the taste and freshness of the dish, my only issue was that the portion was very small considering the price. After finishing it in less than five minutes, I was still hungry.

The rum and raisin mille crepe (RM14.90) by Oneatezero is a must-have at this place. I refuse to even share my slice everytime I have this delicious cake. I have already mentioned this, not once but twice on my blog so I am just going to let the cake speak for itself when you try it.

The coffee at RBB is also highly recommended. With an additional RM2, you get a Tim Tam chocolate to dip into your drink.

Service depends on the hours as the waiters are less attentive during peak hours. It'll take ten minutes to get their attention and another ten if you want anything else. Of course, the position of your table also makes a difference. It is best to sit in front where you are in their immediate view.

I admit the food is rather on the pricey side and the portion of some meals might be smaller than expected but the breakfast dishes are well worth it. Oh, and don't forget the coffee and cakes!
