Starbucks Japan Sakura Collection 2016

The last time I was in Japan around Sakura season, I missed the Starbucks Sakura collection by weeks. Everywhere I went, it was all sold out.

BUT NOT THIS YEAR! BWAHAHAHAH!

Because just like how people monitor the sakura season in Japan, I monitor Starbucks Japan's seasonal merchandise and beverage and lo and behold!

Their 2016 Sakura collection is launching just a day before I arrive at Kansai International Airport on 15 February to mid April or while stocks last. This will be the first of two collections that Starbucks Japan will be selling for the Sakura season this year. The Sakura Serene range offers pastel softer colours in its collection of merchandise that range from tumblers to cups to cards.

“Sakura Serene” L-R: Sakura Handy Stainless Tumbler 480mL (¥4,400), Sakura Handy Stainless Tumbler 480mL (¥4,000), Sakura Stainless SUnny Bottle Calm 600mL (¥2,900), Sakura Calm Tumbler 470ml (¥2,000), Sakura Stainless D Wood Handle Mug (¥3,800), Starbucks Card Sakura Pale, Mini Starbucks Card Sakura Pale.
The second collection features brighter more vibrant colours on its tumblers and cards that is bound to stand out on any Starbucks counter. This set dubbed the Sakura Cheery collection starts going on sale on 1 March to mid-April or while stocks last.

Sakura Cheery L-R: Sakura Handy Stainless Tumbler 500mL (¥4,400),Sakura Handy Stainless Tumbler 350mL (¥4,000),Sakura Cheery Tumbler 350ml (¥1,800),『Sakura Stainless SUnny Bottle Cheery 500mL (¥2,900), Sakura Petal Mug 330mL (¥2,70), Mini Starbucks Card Sakura Cheery, Starbucks Sakura Card Cheery

In Malaysia, the local Starbucks franchise has a running promo to encourage tumbler use by giving RM2 discount on the drinks. I've used my multiple Starbucks tumblers from Japan for this discount here in Malaysia and having a Starbucks Sakura Serene tumbler would be perfect to add to my collection.

Of course, what is Starbucks without its seasonal drinks. To greet spring and the blooming Sakura season, Starbucks Japan offers the Sakura Blossom and Strawberry in both latte and Frappucino. With a combination of faintly cherry blossom scented milk and strawberry, these drinks are non-coffee based. The hot latte comes in Short (¥430), Tall (¥470), Grande (¥510) and Venti (¥550) while the frappucino version comes in Tall (¥550), Grande (¥590) and Venti (¥630). Prices exclude taxes

From 16 February (the day I arrive!) Convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Family Mart will also be loaded with a new new Starbucks Discoveries flavor was also announced. The Starbucks Discoveries Sakura latte with crushed Strawberries (180g cup). With a distinct sakura flavor, the latte will have strawberry pulps. Suggested retail price (excluding tax price): ¥230.
