[Cafe Review ] Poppy Kat cafe, Cheras

Cats, coffee and croffle - the three major Cs of Poppy Kat cafe in Cheras. After seeing postings of its orange interior and cats circulating on social media, I just had to check it out. The opportunity came one gloomy morning after a hike to a certain lake that shall not be mentioned (since it's a private property).

The cafe was located at the most unassuming row of shops, right above a mamak. After checking in on mySejahtera, we ascended the stairs to the coziest of cafes with its sunset lamp, its warm walls and pebbled seating area with sky roof, allowing for natural light to fill the space.

The resident cats weren't around when I visited but I was treated to the company of two adorable 5 weeks old kittens and their mother. While I was playing with them, I could smell the delicious scent of croffle waffling into the cafe from the kitchen and my mouth watered.

Speaking of croffle, I opted for the Biscoff and Matcha Lychee to share with my sister and for coffee, I had to try the house specialty, Black Lychee. Pleasant to look at in its glass, the drink was a well-balanced combo of floral and bitter.

The croffles were amazingly good with the biscoff sauce and light cream going hand in hand with the buttery croffle. The Matcha Lychee with a generous spread of matcha and lychee bits atop was refreshing on the palate.

It was a wonder I managed to focus on the food and drinks with the kittens and their mother running up and down the cafe and keeping me thoroughly entertained with their antics.
