Mukha, TTDI review

I first heard about Mukha from my ex-boss who recommended their fried Mars Bars. That alone engraved the little cafe in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in my mind for years to come. Ironically, only four years later, did I decide to visit Mukha for dinner.

I was in luck as around the time of my visit, they had just revamped the menu and had a few new entries. Mukha offers modern Turkish dishes, simple, delicious and fuss free.

I was intrigued by their hot banana chocolate drink which made for a lovely comfort drink with its velvety chocolate with hints of bananas in it. However I also found that the chocolate overwhelms the banana flavour towards the end.

Their chip and gravy dish was a new addition to the menu or rather an improvement based on what I've read on blogs. It was delicious with just the right amount of handmade potatoes chips drenched in brown gravy and topped with steak pieces and mushroom bits.

I managed to wipe the entire plate clean.

My sisters ordered salmon tabbouleh and chicken kebab, both of which they had no trouble finishing off. In fact the chicken kebab was lapped up so fast that I didn't even get a chance to snap a picture.

I wanted so badly to try their fried Mars bar but alas it was sold out. I had half a mind to just purchase my own Mars bar and ask them to fry it up for me right there and then but I guess it just means another visit to Mukha.

Alongside Mukha is its dessert spinoff, Souka. Upon entering the cosy little cafe in TTDI, the first thing one would see was Souka's dessert counter, stocked with cakes, pies and cupcakes of all sorts. My sister was tempted to get a red velvet cupcake but was too full by the end of dinner.

We went in around 8pm and when we came out an hour later, the alfresco dining area was packed with people. I imagine parking can be quite tricky as well as there are many eateries in the neighbourhood. But hey, for fried Mars bars, I would brave traffic and parking any day.
