Lucy movie review

So my previous movie review on Step Up: All In came with an unexpected surprise. I was selected as the winner of Nuffnang's Step Up: All In review contest! Yay!

And my prize was VIP seating to any Nuffnang movie premiere screening of my choice as well as a Guardians of the Galaxy notebook and a Groot toy that had Senri and Elie squabbling over it.

Step Up: All In movie review

The dance scene is undoubtedly a hard industry to break into, perhaps one of the hardest. It is either you have it or you don't. And like most dancers, I too dreamed of making dancing my career before realising I did not have either the skill or the discipline to make it big. Just passion alone wasn't going to cut it. *wallows in a corner*

It's okay, I will express my creativity through my writing.

Anyway, ready to highlight the grueling cutthroat world of professional dancing this time, the fifth installment of the Step Up series reunited stars from its past four movies, mainly Sean Asa (Ryan Guzman) from Step Up Revolution, Andie West (Briana Evigan) and Moose (Adam G. Sevani) from Step Up: The Streets and of course, Vladd (Madd Chadd) from Step Up 3D. As a fan of dance and of the movies, I just had to catch the movie premiere of Step Up: All In.

How to Train your Dragon 2 movie review

Wow, it has been ages since I did a movie review and I am not sure I can even remember how to do it. Anyway without further ado, on to the review of Dreamworks' most highlight anticipated movie of the year, How To Train Your Dragon 2 courtesy of Nuffnang.

NBrew, Midvalley review

Hey, guys!

Did you know that only about 1% of chefs and food professionals in the world uses molecular gastronomy? What is molecular gastronomy, you ask? Molecular gastronomy basically takes sciences and integrates its methods and experimental ways into the creation of food and desserts. It may seem so out of this world and would cost you a bomb to try out molecular gastronomy but believe it or not, you can actually give it a try at the latest ice-cream parlour to hit the market, NBrew.

Fast and Furious 6 movie review

At the risk of sounding like a crazy fan girl, all I have to say about the latest installment of the Fast and Furious saga was awesome! After two years since Fast Five, Justin Lin once again takes the helm of bringing together a behemoth of a fan-service movie that features the imposing presence of the Hulk and Captain America Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson paired with several stunning beauties. Oh and the female leaders weren't too bad either with Michelle Rodriguez back from the dead as Letty Ortiz. 'You wanted her back, you got it,' was probably what Lin was thinking during the pre-production of the movie.

For once, the movie exceeded or matched the high expectations set by the trailer with the good blend of witty-lines, high-octane car chase and racing scenes, fist-pounding fight scenes and several heartwarming situations between characters.

Genting YNOT Graffiti Finale Event

Thanks to Resort World Genting and Nuffnang, I was given the opportunity to attend the finale of RWGenting's YNOT Graffiti Art event with about 30 other bloggers and their plus ones. After dropping off our luggage at First World hotel's lobby and collecting our blogger passes, we headed to the theme park.

Blogger pass = free access to theme park
Along the way, we saw the vibrant colourful graffiti art works, some complete and others still in progress with their artists still hard at work. Of course, we could not resist taking pictures of the art works and with them. Some of us even got to try our hand at graffiti spraying!

Colourful works of art

Noob at work.
YNot by RWGenting celebrates what was formerly viewed as illegal or part of the 'underground' scene such as graffiti art, BMX and hip hop dance. All of these elements were openly displayed and performed for everyone throughout the event. Emceeing and entertaining us at the event with their sarcastic and deadpanned humour were Dennis Yin and Chris Ooi of Elecoldxhot dance crew.

Iron Man 3: My Way

I am so excited that Iron Man 3 is finally coming out at the end of this month! It has been a ridiculously long year since the Avengers and finally Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) will be gracing our screens once more!

As the first movie to kick off Marvel's Phase Two movies, Iron Man 3 will have Stark facing off again the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) who destroys Stark's personal life and Iron Man suits. Left with only his instincts and brain, Stark must find those responsible for the attack while discovering the answers to the question "does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"

This is going to be an exciting movie based on the many trailer releases as we will get to witness many designs of the Iron Man suits in action including the Hulk Buster and Iron Patriot. Most interestingly is that Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) too will be doning on the Iron Man armour. Whether it is Stark's or her own remains to be unanswered.

Pepper as Iron Man
Did you know that in the comics, Tony designed a suit specifically for Pepper called 'Rescue'? (Because roses and cars are too mainstream presents for Stark). An aptly named suit if you ask me.

Awesomeness overload!
Tony also designed a suit for good old Spidey with cool mechanical arms. It would be epic to see this suit in the movie but then we would all pass out from 'Iron Man/Spiderman awesomeness' overdose and miss the whole movie.

Iron Spider Armour.
Now if I were best buds with Tony Stark, I would have him customize my very own Iron Man suit with inspiration from Strike Freedom from the Gundam Seed anime series. In addition to the iconic Iron Man repulsor blasters for flight and firepower, my armour suit will be equipped with several detachable remote controlled shooters that can engage various targets from multiple angles and directions. When not in used, the shooters will form wings on the back of the suit for additional flight speed.

Detachable remote controlled shooters.

It will also come with a lightsaber for close-quarter combat and additional guns mounted to the back and to the hips for more ammo.

My Iron Man armour will be made from the same vibranium material as Captain America's shield as it is light and can absorb blows and direct hits whilst protecting me. I will also include a special beam-deflecting coating (made from millions of mirrors) to the armour that automatically deflect beam-based/laser attacks and return it to my assailant. Let's see them try to sneak up on me from behind now!

And of course, JARVIS. What is an Iron Man suit without reliable JARVIS?

The result should look something like this in red and gold to live up to Tony Stark's penance for flashiness and I shall call it.......wait for it.....

NOKIA!

As it will be as indestructable as the handphone brand it is named after.

Well, ir might be just me and my imagination running wild but this would definitely be Iron Man my way.

Iron Man hits the big screens on 26 April 2013. But until then, enjoy the trailer:

Nuffnang Tastebuddies @ Kelantan Delights

Not too long ago, I wrote a post on the countdown for the Top 3 millie crepe cakes I have tasted. That was actually in conjunction with Nuffnang's membership recruitment to join a new group in the likes of their Shutterbug (photography) or Fashionista's (fashion) groups.

Needless to say, I am happy to announce that I have been chosen to join the new Nuffnang Tastebuddies foodie group. Basically we are a group of bloggers that share the same habit of always snapping pictures of the food in various angles and lightings for a good ten minutes before allowing you to even inhale it.

Kelantan Delights
Our first ever Tastebuddies gathering was held at the Kelantan Delights restaurant in Sooka Sentral on the quiet Sunday afternoon of Easter. When asked why Kelantan Delights as opposed to other well known eateries, Laura from Nuffnang explained that it was because not everyone has tried Kelantanese food before and it would be a good food experience to try together. I couldn't agree more.

TomYam Kelapa Muda
Did you know that Kelantan, being neighbours with Thailand, is heavily influenced by their Thai cuisine? This was why when our appetizers bore a similar resemblance to the traditional Thai food, Tom Yam soup and Mieng Kham but with a local twist. The Tom Yam Kelapa Muda was served in shot glasses with a fresh prawn and coconut flesh to accompany it. I enjoyed the blend of spiciness and coconut creaminess in the soup, knocking back two shots one after the other like vodka.

Sirih Daun Kadok
The Sirih Daun Kadok was basically the Thai Mieng Kam with more or less the same condiments of peanuts, ginger, lime zest, dried shrimp, onions, dried coconut and a sweetish sauce. I usually DIY my sirih leaf with ample sauce and peanut for an extra crunch but then again, to each their own.

Nasi Dagang Ikan Gulai
For the main dishes, we had to select two dishes out of four mains and after much debate, I opted for the Nasi Dagang Ikan Gulai and Laksam. While the Nasi Dagang Ikan Gulai wasn't too bad, I prefered the Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik my friend ordered due to the rich santan-filled curry that accompanied the soft blue rice. Otherwise, the fish was fresh and meaty and soaked in its own curry wonderfully. The rice and pulut came all the way from Kelantan as did most of Kelantan Delights' ingredients to ensure the authenticness of the dishes.

Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik
It was my first time trying Laksam and I found myself loving the fish gravy it came in. Instead of the meehoon, Laksam is served with rolled up flat noodles, loads of vege and shredded bits of serai for a kick. On the side, it also come with diced chilli.

Laksam
To wrap up the main course, Nasi Tumpang was served. Back in the days, it was sort of like an eco-friendly tiffin carrier for farmers to pack their meals for the entire day in one simple green leaf. It comes with various layers of rice and ingredients. The top layer is eaten in the morning before work begins while the second layer is eaten for lunch and the finally layer is taken before leaving the fields to provide energy for the trip home.

Nasi Tumpang
The Nasi Tumpang at Kelantan Delights is bigger than other Kelantan eateries in Kuala Lumpur and comes with ample of tightly-packed rice, sambal, fish curry and chicken floss. I believe it would go splendidly with the coconut curry from the Nasi Kerabu.

Lompat Tikam & Ketupat Sotong
Finally, despite our full bellies, there is always room for dessert and especially a dessert called Lompat Tikam. Sharing the plate with the sweet green and pink Lompat Tikam is the unusual Ketupat Sotong. The sotong seemed to have been marinated in Gula Melaka and its texture was chewy. There is nothing savoury about this dish as it is all sweet but the ketupat stuffed inside the sotong helps to balance out the sweetness. I swept up the Lompat Tikam last using the soft green kuih and the harder pulut rice to soak up the coconut and Gula Melaka sauce for a sweet finish.

Thank you Nuffnang & Kelantan Delights!
As we were all recovering from overindulging, Laura held a history and geography quiz and several bloggers won prizes courtsey of Kelantan Delights and Nuffnang. We wrapped up our first Tastebuddies gathering with a quick mingling and phototaking session. With that, meeting adjourned.

Kelantan Delights
Kelantan Delights has successfully combined tradition with class for a comfortable dining experience. It's definitely a place you would bring your boss or clients to impress.
