The upgraded location, replacing the previous one at Sunway Pyramid, has brought a fresh and exciting new vibe to the mall's latest extension wing. With its revitalised layout and exclusive offerings, it’s clear why Jaya Grocer continues to be a local favourite—and my personal favourite as well.

realme Malaysia's latest Experience Store and Service Center at Sunway Pyramid

realme Malaysia will be adding another experience store at Sunway Pyramid from the recent ones at NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur and Alor Star Mall, Kedah. Malaysians who are staying around Bandar Sunway are able to shop comfortably and have a better experience with realme devices.

St Marc Cafe's Chococro lands at Sunway Pyramid

I remember one rainy morning in Kyoto, I sought shelter and breakfast from the heavy downpour in a St Marc Cafe near the Teramachi shopping arcade. It was early, cold and I was hungry. It was then I was introduced to their delicious array of pastries and its...Chococro....drools. Think layers of buttery croissant wrapped around a rich centre of dark chocolate. Delicious!

It seemed that founder Naoyuki Katayama discovered it by accident one day after skipping the fermentation process when making the croissant dough, resulting in a pastry that is denser and richer, and creating one of St. Marc Café’s bestsellers to date.

Now, I don't need to go all the way to Kyoto for St Marc Cafe because it has just offically launched its first outlet in Malaysia at Sunway Pyramid. St. Marc Café prides itself in creating and baking all of its pastries in-house, ensuring their freshness and quality. The café’s open-kitchen concept allows customers to see how the pastries are made, as well as enjoy the aroma of freshly-baked goods.

Animangaki 2014 - Day 2 Highlights

Day 2 of Animangaki 2014 and I was beat. After a whole day of being on my feet on Day 1, got my butt kicked at the Energizer Night Run by dehydration and getting up super early for Spartan training with the team, I was sure all feelings in my legs was imaginary.

But by some miracle/determination, I summoned up all my last remaining energy and its reserves and got myself to Sunway Pyramid for the second day of Animangaki...somehow.

And if it was even possible, there was even more to see, do and look forward to on Day 2. Here are my highlights.

Animangaki 2014 - Day 1 Highlights

Animangaki made its return this year with a bang and what a bang it was with the total number of guests topping last year's attendance. Yay!

Since its humble beginnings in 2009, Animangaki has grown leaps and bounds in terms of size, organization and of course, fans. Held once again at Sunway Pyramid, the weekend of 9-10 August 2014 saw flocks and hordes of anime fans, otakus and cosplayers arrive at the convention center of the shopping mall for the fifth Animangaki (abbreviated from the words Anime, Manga and Gaki. Gaki being the Japanese word for 'brat') that was themed Sengoku also known as Feudal Japan.

Sushi King Street Food Promotion

In Japan, it would now be in the middle of summer for them and with the rainy and humid days comes festivals and summer fairs. The best of Japan's street food are bountiful around this time as tourists will find stalls and stalls of food at these festivals. And believe me....they are delicious.

But for a taste of Japanese street food closer to home, Sushi King's Street Food promotion offers just that. Running until the end of August 2014, Japanese cuisine fans will find fusion mouth-watering delicacies inspired from the streets of Japan.

The Spicy Salmon Nigiri immediately caught my attention with the local taste of chilli flakes atop each fresh raw salmon slices for that additional kick. You can opt to skip the wasabi on this one or just pile it on, it is up to you. Priced at RM5 per plate, the Spicy Salmon Nigiri was a good start to any meal.

I am a huge fan of buffet steamboat with emphasis on the words: huge and buffet and Yuen Steamboat in Sunway Mentari has been my favourite steamboat indulging spot since my college days. And judging from the numerous blogs that have reviewed this place and the endless scores of people queuing outside at dinner time each time I am there, Yuen is a popular choice of many others too despite being located in the steamboat hot spot that is Sunway Mentari. I guess it pays to be a pioneer of something in this case.  

Yuen Steamboat boasts a wide range of fresh seafood, vegetables, fish balls and meat selection that makes it a popular choice for buffet goers. The crabs and prawns are big and ample and many eaters often go for those to quickly earn their money back. Depleted ingredients are quickly replenished by the ever attentive staffs.

Animangaki 2013

So last month on 24th and 25th August 2013, Animangaki 2013 took place at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in its fifth year and saw over 8000 anime, manga and gaming fans. By the way, for those don't know what it stands for, Animangaki is a combination word of Anime, Manga and Gaki, as in brat in Japanese because we are all anime and manga brats bought together by a common love.
