Hiking Bukit Guling Ayam

Easy hike with massive payoffs was how one of the blogs described Bukit Guling Ayam. And I agreed!

With Bukit Tabur closed off to the public due to the danger it poses, Bukit Guling Ayam is perhaps the next best site for a hike along the quartz ridgeline. To even call it a hike seems like an overstatement but what else can I call it?

KLSCM 2022: Half marathon PB or Instagrammable Photos?

After my sneak peek of the new KLSCM route, I posed a question to my followers - should I gun for a PB or take my time and take photos of the KL scenery. TL:DR - I opted for the latter and achieve the former.

After an exciting flag off from Dataran Merdeka, I took to the streets of Kuala Lumpur at an unhurried pace to enjoy the ambience of the return of KL's most prestigious running event. Backstreet Boys was playing in my Sudio E2 earbuds and I almost wanted to burst into song, Nine Nine style. Then the first glimpse of KL Tower came into view in Kampung Baru.

Calling Runners for the Asics World EKIDEN 2022!

ASICS is today inviting teams of up to six runners to sign up to compete in the ASICS World Ekiden 2022, as the race returns for its third successive year.

Taking its inspiration from Japanese running culture, the ASICS World Ekiden challenges teams to complete a marathon distance over the course of six legs of varying distances from 5 - 10km. Teams must pass their digital tasuki - the narrow band of fabric used traditionally in Ekidens - from one leg to the next, working together in the true spirit of Ekiden for the team to succeed.

Building Muscle Strength and Mass with Ensure Gold and Guardian

I did my physical test recently and was told that my BMI was on the overweight side. Excuse me? I have muscles okay! Not many people know this but BMI is not an accurate reading on your weight and health levels. It doesn't factor in muscles which is in fact heavier than fat.

Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2020 cancelled due to Covid-19

In light of the uncertainties brought about by the still developing Covid-19 global pandemic, Dirigo Events regretfully announced the cancellation of the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2020 that was scheduled to take place on 13 and 14 June 2020. The health and safety of runners, organising crew, volunteers, medical personnel, officials and police personnel are their top priority, and after consultations with all relevant stakeholders, they would not in good conscience proceed with the event without being able to guarantee everyone’s safety.

[Interview] Breast Cancer Survivor Rainty Tioh eyes IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast

IRONMAN is made up of extraordinary tales of participants overcoming all odds to make it to the holy grail of triathlon in hopes of fulfilling a big-time fitness goals, some even consider it a life achievement. For Rainty Tioh, being afforded the opportunity to be part of the IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast in itself is an act of sheer accomplishment.

Eight years ago, the Sabah-born could not fathom the thought of being healthy after she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. With the C word bringing so much of stigma and negative emotions, it can be an uphill battle to remain positive and keep fighting.

Rainty remains as one of those resilient fighters.

Meet Your KLSCM 2020 Pacers!

Have you ever used the services of a Pacer in a distance running event?

Was it because you wanted to finish at a certain time or because you needed the encouragement, motivation and advice that an experienced Pacer could provide? Those are usually the main reasons why runners decide to follow a Pacer during an event but collectively, the Pacing team of a particular event play a significant role in getting as many runners as possible to achieve their finishing time goals. Pacers also perform an unofficial role as ambassadors and advocates of the event.

KLSCM 2020 Sells out In 7 Hours

When an event dubbed as the World's Worst Marathon sells out its slots in mere hours, there must be something wrong with the people who conducted the survey in the first place. Despite being ranked number 1 from the bottom according to Sole Supplier (who they btw), Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) once again proved itself to be the premier race to be at when all of its public participation slots were snatched up in just seven hours.

Hm...I don't see Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon selling out that fast and they are supposedly bidding to be considered a World Major Marathon event. Hah!

[Race Review] KLSCM 2019 Half Marathon: Chasing that Pacer Balloon

2.5km into the race, I turned the corner into Jalan Raja Abdullah  and I could see those two giant yellow balloons bopping up and down in the air ahead of me. At this point everyone around me started speeding up, trying to overtake the 3:00 hours pacers. I did too even though the Chinese in me had already done the maths and I knew if I held my current pace, I would eventually overtake them anyway.
