A Purr-fect Educational Cause by Royal Canin at Expo Kucing 2022
Everyone knows that most pet parents are a different level of doting and crazy when it comes to their furkids. You would not believe the lengths these parents would go through for their kids, from buying only the best food, treats, toys and even strolleys. Last weekend, I as a said crazy pet parent, flocked to MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) alongside other cat owners for the the fifth edition of Expo Kucing.

To say that Western Australia is vast is putting it lightly. Not only is it Australia’s biggest state, taking up one third of the continent, it is also home to 141 of Australia’s 207 mammal species and 439 reptile species, 1,600 fish species (that’s a lot of fishes) and over 1,200 species of wildflowers! Now that is a lot of flora and wildlife!
You will be surprised by how easy it is to come across an encounter with any one of Western Australia’s native wildlife in almost all your Aussie adventures. Here are five wildlife encounters you can look forward to in Western Australia. Be sure to save this post for future reference when you’ve gotten your Aussie ETA.

And two pioneering “pet champions” have joined forces to not only advocate pet adoption, but show just how rewarding it can be…

Discovery Channel's Shark Week 2020 Featuring “Fintastic” Shark Edutainment And Hollywood Celebrities
I will confess, I have an unexplained fascination with sharks. Granted, I have never got diving or cage diving before to see one of them upclose but have spiralled into the black hole of shark videos on Youtube. Bonus points if the videos are about huge ass megaladons.
Which is why I am excited that Shark Week is back. For its 32nd year running with bigger sharks and breathtaking breaches from Monday, 31 August to Sunday, 6 September, Shark Week 2020’s “fincredible” lineup will deliver magnificent shark stories and celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Air Jaws’.

This article was first published on Unlock Japan on 5 May 2019 (link)
While a part of Japan, Okinawa has always been a unique prefecture with an unusual history that dates back to the Ryukyu Kingdom. Made up of a sub-tropical chain of 160 islands at the southernmost tip of Japan, Okinawa not only has a colourful cultural blend of Chinese and Japanese but is also home to the smallest and rarest horse breed in the entire nation.

How to Score Tickets to see Ueno Zoo's Baby Panda, Xiang Xiang
First appeared on Japan Info: http://jpninfo.com/105608 on 14 March 2018
For an animal on the verge of extinction, panda has never been more popular than they are in zoos. And one panda that is taking Japan by storm is baby cub Xiang Xiang. Born to mother Shin Shin and father Ri Ri in June 2017, Xiang Xiang is Ueno Zoo's symbol of adorable or as the Japanese would say in high pitch voices, kawaii~~!
Naturally when the zoo introduced the first come, first served ticketing system to see the baby panda to the public in February, thousands of Japanese and tourists flocked to the zoo in the wee hours of the morning to obtain the viewing ticket (which does not include the entrance ticket). And it just so happened that I was in Tokyo just around that time and decided to try my luck at seeing the celebrity panda.

WWOOFing at Umikaze Horse Farm, Okinawa
I have always wanted to visit Okinawa, having seen photos of sunny beaches, pristine blue water and so naturally beautiful everything. If anything, Okinawa reminded me of home, Malaysia. After three weeks in cold Hokkaido and Tokyo in winter, I was ready for some warmth at my next WWOOF-ing job in Nanjo, Okinawa and boy, did I get loads of that.
You can read all about my first WWOOF-ing experience in Hokkaido here.

Get your cat checked up with MyCat2Vet Campaign by Royal Canin
"Your cat is a little on the chubby side for his size."
When the vet told me this, I stared at my silly furkid boy, Milo and patted the underside of his belly and his sides. Now that he mentioned it, Milo was a little on a meaty side and I hadn't realised it.
There are a lot of things we don't realise about our pets, cats in particular and one of those things are their health. A survey commissioned by Royal Canin revealed that an estimated 2 in 5 cat owners in Malaysia won’t be taking their cats to a veterinarian this year. One significant finding was that 40% of cat owners surveyed have never taken their cats to the veterinarian.

A Cat named Toufu
The one and only time I took my sister's new fold-able bicycle out to buy eggs (of all things) was the day I came across a cat that would be named Toufu.
Legs tucked under its dirty body, those mesmerising eyes were hard to look away from and I wondered why wasn't it moving from its spot. When I knelt down to pat it, it scrambled towards me, using its front legs to drag its back legs and one thought crossed my mind.

That Time I drugged myself on a Whale Watching Cruise
In all fairness, it wasn't on purpose.
Whale watching was something I've wanted to try for a while now and on my recent trip to Sydney, managed to sign up for one along with my sister and friend. According to the email we got, it departs from Darling Harbour at 8am and it was advised to take seasick pills if one had a tendency to get seasickness. Not wanting to spending the trip heaving breakfast into a brown bag, we went out and bought seasickness pills from Chemist Warehouse.
When we got to the dock, we quickly saw why medication was needed. We were heading out to sea on a small jet boat that could take up to 15 people, a pitiful sight compared to the other cruise boats that towered over us like ferries. It reminded me of the speed boats used to ferry people to Taman Negara in Pahang.

Why Mix Feed Your Cats by Whiskas
Looking at my cats, all five of them, I realised one thing. Feeding them is hella tricky due to their different ages, diet requirements and sizes. Especially the fat ones. They are the ones in need of diet control so to cater to all their noms needs, I mix feed them.
Mix feeding is basically mixed the cat's daily diet with wet food and dry food. According to WHISKAS Malaysia, about 71% of cat owners in Malaysia often opt for dry cat food while 28% of owners prefer wet food for their cat.
While some cat owners swear by wet food and others prefer dry food, research from The Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition suggests that both types have their plus points . Research shows that feeding your cat both dry and wet food will allow them to benefit from the best of both practices. And here's why:

Purradise Cat Cafe, TTDI
A rainy Saturday dinner outing unexpectedly became an outing to a newly opened cat cafe in Taman Tun Dr Ismail for me over the weekend. On a whim, my friends and I googled cat cafes in Malaysia and came across Purradise Cat Cafe. Located in a very popular TTDI area (across the road from its Pasar Besar area), the cafe was very spacious in comparison to the those found in Singapore and Japan. Spotting a bright and outdoorsy feel, the cafe offers bean bags, grass carpets for your wiggle toes and of course, ample of platforms, boxes, holes and toys for the kitties.
In short, it was quite literally paradise for cat-lovers.

Singapore's Cat Museum
Move aside cat cafes because Singapore now has a Cat Museum. Not a building housing dead cats detailing the history of felines though the years (like Malaysia's cat museum in Sarawak) but rather one that is home to real life cats rescued from the streets.
Having only opened officially in January 2015, this cat museum occupies the upper floors of a traditional shoplot along PURvis street (haha, geddit? Credit to Isabel for that pun). Spotting it from the street can be tricky as there is no clear signboard to look out for but after walking up and down once, I finally spotted the little stairwell beside a lovely red lot leading up to kitty paradise. The walls of the stairs are decorated with cat motifs and quotes from well-known personalities indicating their admiration for the feline kind.

Why 1600 Pandas
Did you know...that as of 2004, there are only 1600 pandas alive in the wild?
What the fark so morbid!
I also just learnt from WWF Malaysia that Malaysia only has less than 300 tigers in the wild. What the hell, Malaysia?! Get your shit together and protect our national icon! Stop deforestation or I'll deforest the shit out of your homes, your government and development cronies!
