What am I going on about? Why, the long awaited opening date of Star Wars Miniland in Legoland Malaysia in Johor Bahru of course! You can mark your calenders for 6 September because that's when this will be happening. And by the way, if you so happen to be visiting around that time, it's also Legoland Malaysia's second anniversary on 16 September (Hello, Malaysia Day holiday) so keep an eye out for special offers!
The new Star Wars themed attractions will be the first standalone complex of its kind in Asia and (here's the best part), fully air-conditioned. So if you are looking for somewhere to escape the notorious Malaysian weather, then let the force take you in! It is housed in a uniquely shaped standalone octagon building and recreates seven of the most famous scenes – six from the beloved Star Wars films and one from the smash hit animated series: Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Here are some interesting facts to help you enjoy the attraction more when you visit it:
- It took almost 8,000 man hours and over 1.5 million bricks to create the 1,122 models in the new LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland Experience.
- The largest of all the Star Wars™ models is a 2.5m tall Crystal Building, inspired by the scene from Star Wars: The Clone Wars™. Weighing in at 120kg, it is made of 45,000 bricks and stands at exactly 2.65m high.
- The smallest model is Yoda, made up of just 30 LEGO® pieces – he appears twice in Miniland. (spot him if you can)
At the entrance, C-3PO, Darth Vader and R2-D2 awaited to greet visitors. Once inside, you will get enjoy a chronological walk through the Star Wars timeline featuring the planets Christophsis, Endor, Geonosis, Hoth, Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Naboo, and Tatooine. How about taking a selfie with Chewbacca, Yoda and Princess Leia in the Hall of Fame?
Throughout the month of September, various LEGO Star Wars™ activities have been lined up to commemorate the anniversary celebrations. Amongst this is free entry for children dressed up as their favourite Star Wars™ characters. The promotion will be from 6th – 30th Sept 2014. Additionally, Annual Pass holders will enjoy a special preview periods from 1-5 Sept before the attraction opens to the public.
