Selfies A Must at Malaysia's First Selfie Museum

Happy Merdeka Day to my fellow Malaysians! 

In the spirit of our 61st National Day, let's talk about things that Malaysians love. Number 1) Food, Number 2) Selfies and OOTDs, Number 3) Social Media and Number 4) Take pictures of  food and selfies of themselves for social media! 

In the spirit of all things Malaysian love (aka all of the above), Malaysia's very first dessert themed "Selfie Museum" has opened its doors to the public on 31 August 2018 at Fahrenheit 88, right smack in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's shopping and travel destination. The “Selfie Museum” is sponsored by international and local favourite brands; Samsung, Pandora, Benefit Cosmetics, Baskin Robbins, Hotlink Red, TeaLive, llaollao, dUCk Scarves, and Lingham Chili Sauce. There are nine rooms located in the 7,000sqft in size space of Fahrenheit 88's second floor. 

According to the brains behind this concept, Sean Tan, Direction of the "Selfie Museum" - "It’s something new in Malaysia and the inspiration behind this is to allow Malaysians to experience a multi-sensorial journey from sight, touch to taste. We hope to bring Malaysians from all walks of life together to create special moments and memories.” 

Each of these rooms have their own fun and interactive themes and are filled with larger than life dessert themed sculptures for a fun-filled Instagram photo-taking day out while munching on five Malaysian inspired desserts throughout. That's right. You get food - cute, delectable, Instagrammable treats.  So bring your powerbank (trust me, you will need it!), selfie stick/tripod and family and friends. 

Now, let's explore the nine rooms in the "Selfie Museum", shall we?

“Selfie Museum” Rooms:

1. “The Giant Cakes” Room by Pandora

Step in and and feel like Alice in Wonderland. This room displays a variety of colourful giant cake sculptures. Visitors will also get to choose a complimentary cupcake with a local flavor twist; Sirap or Gula Melaka. 

2. “Everything’s Sweet” Room by Benefit Cosmetics

No eyebrow and makeup makeover here. Filled with eye-catching candies and dessert sculptures, this room adds a pop of colour in photos. Visitors will also get to enjoy soft and fluffy corn or lychee marshmallows as they walk through the beautiful “Fluffy Path” to the next room.

3. “Fluffy Path” Room

Ever wonder what it would be like to float amongst the clouds? Or in a cloud of tampons? Well, welcome to the fluffy path – this room is about the very moment of happiness, after a long day of celebrations and laughter!

4. “Ice-Cream World” Room by Baskin Robbins

Sing it with me - Baskin Robbins Thirty- One! Who doesn't love Baskin Robbins and their bi-monthly 31% off offer? At the "Selfie Museum", the room dedicated to the brand resents a delicious life-size Baskin Robbins ice-cream cone and to top it off, visitors will receive a free scoop of Baskin Robbins Cold Brew Crunch or Cotton Candy. Don't ask me which is nice because they both are. 

5. “dUCkies Café” Room by dUCk Scarves

An insta-perfect café setting with a life-size ikat tepi Teh Ais and Kuih Lapis. This room is ideal for everyone to take wefie photos together. Or for you to live out your inner Martha Steward behind the giant kitchen counter. 

6. “Rainbow” Room

A magical life-size unicorn is the star of this super colourful rainbow room. Take a selfie with the adorable unicorn after its meal of yet another insta-worthy life-size durian sculpture!

7. “Super Happiness” Room by SAMSUNG Galaxy

Remember the ball room in IKEA'S kids room and you just wished you were under that height limit just so you can dive in? (And hop in and out yelling BAZINGA!) At the "Selfie Museum", this room  is where visitors can go ba-na-nas and jump onto a life-size banana to take photos. The room also has 3 zones featuring different interactive experiences with the latest SAMSUNG Galaxy S9+.

8. “Splash Lab” Room by TeaLive & llaollao

A perfect combination of bubble-tea and yogurt inspired room. This room showcases a life-size sculpture of your favourite Malaysian bubble tea drink with giant pearls too! Knowing how exhausting taking photos and selfies can get, visitors will receive a refreshing complimentary cup of Roasted Milk Tea with Grass Jelly to quench their thirst.

9. “Do-Nut-Stop” Room by Hotlink

Ah, Homer Simpson's favourite food. Get a sugar rush photo moment amongst life-size donuts in this room. Visitors will also receive a free local flavored tart; a choice of coconut or banana – so delicious, it’s sure to make you do-nut-stop savouring each bite.

Duration : 31st August 2018 to 28th February 2019 (6 months).
Operating Days : Monday to Sunday (including Public Holidays).
Operating Hours : 10:00am to 10:00pm daily.
Normal Ticket Price : RM45 per adult, RM30 per child (below 12yrs old).

*Visitors can purchase their tickets online at www.selfie.com.my and receive RM5 discount.
*Maxis/Hotlink App user can enjoy an early bird promo price of RM30 via the app if they purchased their tickets online from 29 Aug - 2 Sept 2018. Tickets purchased during this promo period can be used until 28 February 2019. 

#SELFIELAH CONTEST
In conjunction with Malaysia’s 61st National Day, Selfie Museum will be running a social media contest - #Selfielah #Selfietogether which starts from 31st August to 30th September 2018. Visitors are encourage to participate by taking a creative selfie and posting it on their Instagram with the hashtag #selfielah and #selfietogether to stand a chance to win special prizes such as the new Samsung Galaxy Note9 and many more on a weekly basis.
