Viper King of the Mountain 2020
I kicked off my 2020 OCR season with Viper's first event of the year in Genting Highlands. So glad that they've brought back this event because it's easily one of my favourite. I mean, cold chilly air, shopping at Genting Premium Outlet and hotpot in the skies? How not to be excited?
As it has become my practice of late, I opted for the hotel + tickets package for four people when signing up because it just made more sense of stay overnight at the race venue. I can just roll out of bed one hour before my flag off and ta-da I am already at the start line. That and also because I don't want to deal with the driving and parking hassle so early in the morning.
This time the race started at Grand Ion Delemen as opposed to its original venue at Gohtong Jaya. As you can imagine, everything was contained to the grounds owned by Ion Delemon including the race village and race course which was nice because right after my race, I could just head off to my breakfast buffet at the hotel.
It was also my first run with my GoPro Hero 7 which I won in a lucky draw (8 months ago...) so here's a quick video I edited in a hour of the race. Unfortunately, the GoPro programme I tried using kept crashing so I had resort to the basic video editing software. Please bare with me and enjoy the video.
In a nutshell, the run path on was hard while the obstacles were do-able. The view was amazing and the weather perfect. This event was the kind of obstacle race that one can do solo which I did 80% of the way. Granted I did skip a few obstacles as I didn't feel confident doing them without assistance. Looks like it's back to OCR training for me then.
Until then, see you at the next race aka Viper Urban in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
