Bookworms have a new playground to visit with the opening of Tsutaya Bookstore, the dynamic junior brand of Japan’s esteemed Tsutaya Books. It celebrated the grand opening of its first Southeast Asian store at Intermark Mall in Kuala Lumpur. The event, honored by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, signifies the enduring friendship between Japan and Malaysia and the brand's commitment to enriching Malaysia's cultural landscape.
Located at the heart of the city, Tsutaya Bookstore at Intermark Mall provides a more casual and intimate book-buying experience compared to its premium counterpart, Tsutaya Books in Pavilion Bukit Jalil. The store boasts a diverse selection of books, particularly paperbacks, focusing on humanities and workstyle titles. Additionally, the warm and cozy terracotta-toned stationery collection caters to the busy office clientele of Intermark Mall, complemented by an in-house café offering freshly brewed coffee and the signature lemonade.
Each Tsutaya store features a unique design inspired by its surroundings to enhance the customer experience. Tsutaya Bookstore Intermark Mall, with its parallel oak wood shelves and a blend of cool and warm tones, creates a spacious and inviting ambiance. The in-store café, designed for slow living in a bustling environment, invites book shoppers to savor a variety of beverages, including freshly brewed coffee and the signature lemonade, against a backdrop of casual exposed concrete.
This marks Tsutaya Bookstore's inaugural presence in Southeast Asia, a significant achievement for the brand with a global footprint of 47 stores. Malaysia now proudly houses the 18th Tsutaya Bookstore, making it the gateway to Southeast Asia. The Intermark Mall location spans an impressive 6,362 square feet.
Hideyuki Uemoto, CEO of Tsutaya Books Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, expresses gratitude, stating, "We are thrilled to introduce Tsutaya Bookstore to Southeast Asia with the grand opening of our Intermark Mall location. Our carefully curated selection of books and stationery, along with the inviting store interior and café, reflects our commitment to cultural connections in Malaysia. We eagerly welcome a diverse audience to our new prime location."
His Excellency Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, adds, "The grand opening of Tsutaya Bookstore in Kuala Lumpur is a dream come true, showcasing the strong friendship between Japan and Malaysia. We hope this venture paves the way for more Japanese businesses in Malaysia and sparks a desire for Malaysians to explore Japan's rich cultural tapestry."
