ASICS Sportstyle Malaysia and SneakerLAH are celebrating Malaysian culture once again with their latest sneaker collaboration, the ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20 “ICE KACANG”. Inspired by one of Malaysia’s most beloved local desserts, the limited-edition sneaker combines streetwear, nostalgia and distinctive Malaysian design cues in a colourful new take on the GEL-KAYANO™ 20.
The collaboration continues a long-running partnership between ASICS Sportstyle Malaysia and SneakerLAH, with both brands using footwear to tell stories inspired by Malaysian culture.
Their previous collaborations include the GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG “NASI LEMAK” (2019), GEL-LYTE™ III “KUALA LUMPUR TWIN TOWERS” (2020), GEL-LYTE™ III “TEH TARIK” (2022) and ASICS SKYHAND™ OG “MAMEE MONSTER” (2024). Each release drew inspiration from familiar Malaysian food, landmarks and childhood favourites, creating sneakers that resonated with local sneaker enthusiasts.
From an Ice Kacang Idea to a Sneaker
The idea for an ice kacang-inspired ASICS sneaker actually dates back to 2018, when SneakerLAH and ASICS Sportstyle Malaysia were developing ideas for their first collaboration.
The concept became part of a wider bank of ideas that eventually inspired the four collaborations that followed. Eight years later, the ice kacang concept has finally come to life as the ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20 “ICE KACANG”. The result is a sneaker that translates the colourful layers and familiar ingredients of the Malaysian dessert into its design.
Inspired by the Colours and Layers of Ice Kacang
The predominantly white upper represents the mountain of shaved ice at the centre of ice kacang, while rose pink panels reference the dessert’s rose syrup. Yellow accents add a nod to sweet corn, or jagung, one of its signature toppings.
The shoe’s FLUIDFIT™ cage, a criss-cross TPU structure across the upper, takes inspiration from the drizzle of evaporated milk commonly poured over ice kacang.
The details continue into the midsole and outsole. The dual GEL® technology inserts feature a green hue inspired by the cendol found in the dessert, while the GUIDANCE TRUSSTIC® support system on the outsole is finished in black as a reference to grass jelly.
Red bean-inspired detailing appears around the lace eyelets and toebox, adding another familiar ice kacang ingredient to the design.
The collaboration also introduces an outdoor-style lace lock system, inspired by the rugged hardware typically found on outdoor footwear. It marks a first for the SneakerLAH and ASICS collaboration series.

SneakerLAH Continues Its Malaysian Storytelling
According to Bryan Chin, Founder of SneakerLAH, the latest collaboration continues the partnership’s focus on familiar elements of Malaysian culture.
The previous releases have celebrated everything from nasi lemak and teh tarik to the Kuala Lumpur skyline and MAMEE Monster. The latest sneaker turns the spotlight to ice kacang, a dessert that has long been part of Malaysia’s food culture and childhood memories.
With its layered colours and ingredient-inspired details, the ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20 “ICE KACANG” offers another distinctly Malaysian interpretation of a globally recognised ASICS silhouette.

The sneaker will first be available through an online raffle on SneakerLAH, starting 5 October 2026. Its official launch will take place on 10 and 11 October 2026 at LahLahLand, Mines International Exhibition Convention Centre.
