Japanese Airlines, JAL and ANA Offering Free Domestic Flights for International Travelers

In the travel industry, there is a term for Japan called the Golden Route. It basically means the popular travel route of travellers from Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka or vice versa. The reason why this is a common route for travellers to Japan is because there are three major international airports (Haneda, Narita and Kansai Airport) connecting two major cities, Tokyo and Osaka for international travellers to fly into. Plus, the Shinkansen connects all three cities, making it a kill three birds in one situation for tourists.

But as a result, overcrowding and an influx of tourists to these areas has become prevalent. To combat this, Japanese airlines like ANA has introduced discounted or complimentary domestic flights to other parts of Japan when booked with your international flights. I have used this service quite a few times to travel to Sapporo, Okinawa and Nagoya and I will share that it was very convenient for jetting across the country without having to touchdown in the major hubs.

Qatar Airways Business Class Review [KL - DOHA]

I was assigned to a work trip to Qatar to create social media content and got to enjoy a one way business class experience onboard Qatar Airways from Kuala Lumpur to Doha. I have ascended as a traveller *cue the angel's singing*

My group was initially in economy, which I didn't mind since I have heard nothing but praises for Qatar Airways. It was my first time too on Qatar Airways so I was excited to experience it. But when we got to the departure gate, we found out that we had gotten an upgrade to business class.

ANA Hello Blue Sale includes Free Domestic Flights

Ohayo, Japan friends!

I have news! All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest and 5-Star airline for seven consecutive years, is holding its limited “HELLO BLUE SALE”. The sale will run from 29 Nov to 3 Dec, 2019 and features an addition of free* domestic flight within Japan when purchased with an applicable international ticket.

This means you can make like a Tania and fly to Tokyo to Hokkaido back to Tokyo then to Okinawa and finally to Nagoya! Or something like that. Because that's exactly what I did for my three months in Japan in 2018.

AirAsia X is flying from KL to Okinawa (via Taipei)!

Starting 22 January 2020, AirAsia X will be flying into Naha Okinawa, the southern most prefecture of Japan. The four times weekly service via Taipei will be AirAsia’s sixth international destination in Japan, after Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka and Nagoya (via Bangkok).

I have stayed at Okinawa for three weeks. If I had to describe the island, I would say, if Malaysia and Japan had a baby, it would look like Okinawa. With a tropical climate closer to ours and a food cuisine impacted by Americans and Taiwan, the culture there reminded me ever much of Malaysia. Minus our teh-tarik sea waters. Theirs is pristine blue and absolutely beautiful.

You can read my postings on Okinawa here.

AirAsia X Malaysia CEO Benyamin Ismail says, “Our rapid expansion into Japan continues following the launch of services to Fukuoka and Tokyo Narita earlier this year. Okinawa is an island paradise that offers a different Japanese experience for leisure travellers, including white sandy beaches with clear blue waters, some of the world’s most famous diving spots and unique Ryukyuan cuisine."

Guests from Kuala Lumpur to Okinawa Naha are not required to obtain a visa during their one hour fifteen minutes stopover in Taipei and may return to their seats after clearing a quick security check of their carry-on bags and inflight belongings.

Okinawa is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures comprising 160 islands in the East China Sea. With its unique cultural heritage and local cuisine, Okinawa has long been a holiday destination for the Japanese, while its subtropical climate, coral-fringed waters and relaxed way of life attract throngs of international tourists looking for an alternative to the hustle-bustle of major cities in mainland Japan.

8D7N Kyushu Japan Itinerary (Kumamato - Nagasaki - Fukuoka)

When Airasia announced their new route to Fukuoka and thus to the rest of mainland Kyushu, I was probably one of the first in line (online) to book my tickets as soon as they launched last year. And so began half a year of planning for my first visit to Fukuoka.

ANA KL - Tokyo NEW Business Class Menu by Zipangu, Shangri-La KL

I often get questions asking me which airline do I use to travel to Japan and I would always say check the price on ANA first. If you can afford it, go for it. The comfort and service is worth that extra dough. ANA is Japan's largest 5-star airline for six consecutive years and from the moment I checked-in my luggage right up to when I collect them at my destination, it was easy to see why this airline was so deserving of this rating. ANA is perhaps the ideal representation of Japan hospitality and the best way to introduce you to its country. Heck, even its domestic flights are top-notch with self-check-in luggage services that continue to impress me till this day.

Fly to Fukuoka, Japan with AirAsia X!

As many of you may know, it's my quest to visit different prefectures and cities of Japan each year. Next year, thanks to AirAsia X I can soon tick the Kyushu prefecture off that list as AirAsia X has announced its new route from Kuala Lumpur to Fukuoka!

The Many Views of Mount Fuji part 1 - From the Airplane

Hello, people and welcome to PART ONE of the Many Views of Mount Fuji. This kicks off my series of picshorts (picture-shorts) dedicated to the beautiful, the mysterious, the ever volatile active volcano - Mount Fuji!
Taken on 28 Feb 2017 - Mount Fuji peeked out at me from under the blanket of clouds on my flight home. Very lucky considering how shy she is. This is like a teaser to my next crazy thing to do for 2017.
This shot was my most memorable shot of Mount Fuji from afar. I was on board a 5pm flight on ANA back to Kuala Lumpur from Narita Airport after the Tokyo Marathon and had lucked out with a full row to myself. As soon as the seatbelt sign went off, I scooted over to the window seat and whipped out my laptop, headphones, phone charger, laptop charger and phone. I made myself quite comfortable across all three seats and about 30 minutes into the flight, peered out the window to watch the sunset across the carpet of clouds. And as there she was, peeking out shyly from the clouds was Mount Fuji.

It seemed kinda meaningful because back then I had attempted to climb Mount Fuji once and did so in a typhoon, thus missing the sunrise. I vowed to climb it again and did so on my 30th birthday with my family and and it was worth it.

Direct Flights to Jeju, South Korea via AirAsia X

So the other day I was reading the news on how China is boycotting South Korea due to the feud with North Korea and this had caused the number of Chinese tourists going to Jeju to nosedive by 80% compared to this time last year (Source: Aljazeera)

But fret not, South Korea and everything that is K-Pop and kimchi! Because starting 12 Dec, AirAsia will be commencing its direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Jeju island which means you no longer have to fly into Seoul first.
