Well, great news for you because you can now grab and enjoy new flavours of favourite snack at 7-Eleven. be it for breakfast, lunch or even as a snack, the onigiri is the embodiment of Japanese convenience and wrapped in easily removable packaging, 7-Eleven's offering continues this trend with its ready-to-go meal.
Out of the new flavours, I personally recommend the Chuka Idako Onigiri (RM4.50), something you don't get easily outside of a Japanese restaurant. With baby octopus seasoned with thick red sauce and sesame seeds, this one makes for a sweet and chewy treat.
You can't go wrong with the traditional Salmon Teriyaki Onigiri (RM4.20), wrapped in plump soft rice and crunchy nori or seaweed. But for a twist, you can always try out the new Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Onigiri (RM4.50). Think hors-d'œuvre but in an easy hand held meal.
For an umami kick, try the Tobiko Kani Mayo Ongiri (RM4.20), combining the natural sweetness of crab with the delightful crunch of tobiko. I reckon this would be something the kids will enjoy. Alternatively there is also the Soy Garlic Chicken Onigiri (RM3.70). Infused with soy, ginger and garlic marinade, this is perfect for fans of Korean Fried Chicken.
For those looking for a little spicy kick, the Wasabi Abalone Onigiri (RM5.00) might just work for you. Also where else can you get abalone in a ready to eat meal for a steal? Speaking of meals for a steal, don't forget to try out the Japan-favourite Unagi Onigiri (RM5.50).
Of course, the existing all time favourites are still available such as the Teriyaki Chicken Onigiri (RM3.70) and the Tuna Mayo Onigiri (RM3.70)
You can grab these new flavours from the Fresh Food section of 7-Eleven which also serves a myriad of ready-to-eat meals from spaghetti and macaroni to local meals like Nasi Lemak. Pair your meals with a bean-to-cup coffee, fruit juice, soft serve or if even in doubt, the nostalgic Slurpee! Itdatakimasu!
